This was a great read. My daughter’s love of her life just left her because he’s so jealous. She’s heartbroken and confused. But I’ve told her the same thing. Let him go so you can make room for someone else.

Your partner could be having a limerence episode and if you love them, you should give them the space to decide, and not drop them like a hot potato. With your formula, there would be fewer meaningful long term relationships. We all come to a relationship with issues that need to be resolved and worked on together; if there is a good foundation and strong history together, you will survive the rough patches; once you accept and are willing to show your vulnerabilities, your relationship has a chance to become better and stronger and to last. Of course, compatibility is an important factor too.

My God, Bryan you hit the nail right on the head… I am wondering, in all of your wisdom, what you would say to someone who can’t seem to let go of their current partner, even though they’ve fallen out of love in several ways.

Why would anyone want to be with somebody who doesn’t want to be with them..? I’d rather be alone.
